Understanding expanding overviews

In the past you were forced to choose between (1) having overviews display fully on the top of a navigation term page or (2) having them “tease” with a read more which clicked through to a full version of the post. The problem was that (1) could be unsightly if the overview was too long and (2) was problematic because if someone searched for the term, they might get to the full overview but get confused about how to “get back” to the full navigation term while also causing problems with SEO.

We’re proud to announce that we’ve finally solved this with the new ‘expanding overview’ functionality. Expanding overviews can show only the teaser, but expand right before your eyes (aka on the same page) when you click the read more link.

See it in action here: ewa.org/online-learning

(Click the ‘read more’ on ‘Online learning’ to watch the overview expand without taking you to another page.)

Send in a ticket to let us know if you would like to enable expanding overviews.

To adjust where the read more displays, you can play around with placing a teaser break in the body content of your post. Here's a screenshot of where you can find the teaser break tool. Simply place your cursor where you would like to break the content.
