This guide will walk you through the process of importing the CSV file into the Sierra College Directory.
Step 1: Prepare Your CSV File Before importing your CSV file, it's crucial to ensure that it is properly formatted and organized.
- The UID column is the primary key of the file, which the Directory uses to generate links.
- To differentiate between Employee and Office data during import, the Type column must be filled correctly. If the information is incorrect or missing, nothing will be displayed.
- The name of the CSV file should be as follows: Sierra Directory Sample for DD_03212312
Step 2: Access the Ultimate CSV Importer Pro to import the CSV spreadsheet:
- In your WordPress admin dashboard, navigate to "Ultimate CSV Importer."
- Click on "Import" to access the import options.
- Select the CSV file you prepared earlier by clicking on the "Choose File" button.
- Choose the option "Existing Items" and select "Directory from the dropdown menu.
- Make sure the template you are displaying is the "Correct Template". or it may corrupt data.
- Click on the "Use Template" button.
- On the next two screens, you can just navigate to the end of it and move on to the next option by clicking continue.
- On the screen below mark the check box "Do you want to handle the duplicate on existing records", choose the "post_type" option from the drop-down menu and click "Update".
Step 4: After clicking the "Update" button, the plugin will start importing your CSV file. It's important to monitor the process to ensure everything goes smoothly. Here's what you should do:
- Stay on the import page and observe the progress bar to track the import process.
- If any errors occur, the plugin will display error messages along with the affected rows.
- Address any errors by making necessary
